No More Beauty Lotions, Fashion Surgeries are the Latest Trends

A face It’s a mad mad world and the fairer sex is going crazier than never before. Women are ready to go under the knife, nipping and tucking unexpected body parts. Move over breast implants and tummy tucks; its time for labia and butt cheeks to get some job done!

A new feature in MSNBC notes, that labia and butt jobs are the latest ‘in’ things in the world of cosmetic surgeries. Many women are seeking ‘Vaginal Rejuvenation’ and ‘Butt Padding’ to save themselves from the ‘embarrassment’ of having imperfect genitals and derrières. While in some cases it is a serious case of elongated labia, in the rest, it is the pressure of looking perfect from head to toe. Women want ‘attractive genitals’. As far as the butt implants go, the desire for curvier behinds is what is driving women to get under the knife. There is another option for it which is also known as Brazilian Butt lift where the look is inspired from Brazilian models- small breasts and curvy buttocks.

Want to hear of some more weird surgeries? Toe shortening or Toe lengthening surgeries are one of the really weird ones. If you want to shorten your toes, get them shaved and if you want them long, go in for toe lengthening surgery. Surgeons have dubbed these extreme surgeries as ‘Fashion Surgeries, and in this business of nipping and tucking, Ankle Lipo, Shoulder Lipo and Belly Button Reshaping are the ones that take the cake.

And what is more shocking is that apart from the young ladies and teens, it is the ageing generation preferring such surgeries.
“Nothing and nobody is ever good enough. We have to improve and become something better. That’s why all these makeover shows are so popular, they are all about self-improvement,” says, Dr Jones, University of Sydney who launched Skintight: An Anatomy of Cosmetic Surgery’ a book on cosmetic surgeries, in a report in Canberra News. “I argue that cosmetic surgery is a crucial part of the makeover culture, you could say it is its quintessential example.”

With the ever increasing needs and desires in the beauty land, cosmetic surgeons are making big bucks, cashing on the insane demand of slicing and sewing around body parts. It is however advised that women seek experienced and reputed M.Ds, instead of compromising on an inexperienced one just for the sake of lower surgery costs. For one might never know the price you will have to pay after distorting your body the wrong way.

“In certain cases,” says Dr. Kinney, M.D., a clinical assistant professor of plastic surgery at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, “I’d rather she get it right the first time, whether that means reshaping her nose or labia.” There’s even an experienced surgeon in L.A. who specializes in “vaginal rejuvenation,” a man one colleague jokingly refers to as “the labia king of America.” As he reveals that has had to fix up a many procedures gone wrong just because the women did not visit an experienced and reputed surgeon. Dr. David Alessi also talks about the mindset in surgeons “that someone’s going to do the surgery, so it might as well be me” in the MSNBC report.

While the high-flying corporate women, high-profile ladies, women who have lots of money but have lost their charm to ageing and the ones who fail to acknowledge their beauty are opting for the extreme surgeries, there are still a number of women who believe in the au natural. “Most women can’t afford or justify cosmetic surgery but end up having it done because society makes them so desperately fearful and insecure about the impact of ageing,” said Christopher Hopkins, author of Staging Your Comeback: A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45. “We have been programmed to believe that only things outside our control, such as surgery or injections, can truly ameliorate the impact of ageing.”

A revolution in this cosmetic culture has been witnessed in Britain where a growing number of Hollywood celebrities, timeless beauties, and fashion gurus are anti-needle, anti-surgery and resort to natural methods like Yoga or just ageing gracefully and naturally, reads an article published online in Guardian UK. Hopkins, a Minneapolis makeover expert, added, “But more than ever we have the power to change and improve what Mother Nature handed us. Who would have imagined Raquel Welch being the face of MAC cosmetics at 62? For women today, anything is possible.”

“Feeling weird about getting older is tightly bound up with feeling weird about what one has not achieved in one’s life thus far,’ says Alex Shulman, editor of British Vogue, ‘If one is so competitive, wouldn’t it make sense to opt out of a competition that can never be won?”

It’s all about having self-confidence and acknowledging the inner beauty than wasting money over slicing your bodies. This has always been a supported fact by the surgeons who have had enough of shocking requests from ladies with low self-confidence, wanting to be the ‘perfect-one’.
