Icare Icare is a new innovative eye pressure measuring tonometer of Espoo, Finland. The Icare eye pressure can be used in eye pressure (IOP) examinations like glaucoma screening programs of masses.

This new tool requires no drops, is painless and needs no specialized skills for its use. This new innovation is based on a new measuring principle. In this, a very light probe is used to make momentary contact with the cornea, where the patient hardly notices the measurement. This has proved to be very beneficial and comfortable for non-compliant patients, like dementia patients or children. It makes a more pleasant experience for the people who undergo IOP measuring.

The Icare tonometer is very accurate, has an easy usage and dynamic patient flow. Thus this makes it a must have tool for general practitioners, optometrists, occupational health care and other medical personnel, and also for specialists like ophthalmologists.

The Icare tonometer was presented at the Medica 2008 conference in Düsseldorf.
