Sterols and stanols derived from plant sources prevent us from absorbing cholesterol from food. It is flushed out of the body during the waste elimination process instead. These can be bought as supplements. Companies have started adding these substances into the food their manufacture due to this. It’s just a personal opinion, but we wouldn’t recommend processed additives when you can get the same from nature.
