There’s no need to completely avoid crackers, cookies, breads and biscuits made with diabetics in mind. But don’t confuse whole grain with multi-grain. Companies may not be using whole grains to make baked goods even if the final product consists of several types of healthy grains. This is another reason for you to check labels carefully before buying foodstuff.

Dark chocolate and other ‘sweet’ foods –

Assuming sweet foodstuffs to be a complete no-no for snacks for diabetics may not be completely correct. Stores sell dark chocolate (go for at least 70% cocoa) made without sugar or with substitutes. A sprinkling of cinnamon is enough to safely bring joy to a hot cup of cocoa stirred in with stevia, a natural sweetener.

Dessert

Sometimes intense natural flavors can help trick your taste buds into thinking you’re eating or drinking something sweet. Another fancy way to whip up some mouthwatering dessert for a snack is by adding the antioxidant-, vitamin- and protein-rich bee pollen to sweeten it, unless you’re allergic to bees.

Quite honestly, the above list of snacks for diabetics contains almost all the healthy eats a normal individual would be advised to consume between meals. So if you feel you are missing out on anything, it’s only the sugar-laden and carbohydrate-stuffed food that would be best avoided anyway.
