Bone A top radiologist, who was formerly working with the Indian Air Force, has come out with an innovative, non-invasive technique to treat joint pains through a number of healthcare clinics which will be opened across India. Wing Commander (Dr) V G Vashishta has been successful in many clinical trials on nearly 500 osteoarthritis patients in the last three years.

His company, Cartigen Healthcare Pvt Ltd, plans to open clinics in Mumbai in the next two months.

Wing Commander (Dr) V G Vasishta, who pioneered Rotational Field Quantum Magnetic Resonance (RFQMR) for treatment of osteoarthritis said he would exclusively use RFQMR to treat osteoarthritis, a slow progressive destruction of cartilage in weight-bearing joints and most common form of arthritis or joint disease.

RFQMR is a unique non-invasive technique more effective, cheaper and painless alternative to knee replacement. The cost of treatment using this technique would be in the range of Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 — nearly one-fourth of Rs 2.5 lakh cost for treatment of each knee through replacement surgery, he said.

“We plan to open 10 to 15 Cartigen Helathcare Clinics in the country, including in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad, in the next six-eight months,” he said, adding, thereafter his company would probably adopt the franchisee model.
