The spore bearing fruiting body of a fungus may have a bad name due to the mention of ‘Fungii’. But the tiny Mushroom holds with it a package of dietary benefits and as per a new research mushrooms can be of great help in boosting immunity and keeping one away from Cancer.

Mushrooms are packed with antioxidants, nutrients, and vitamins which are the reason for its immunity boosting benefits, which in turn helps fight cancer as well. While speaking about the advantages of Mushrooms on Monday at the Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting and Food Expo in New Orleans, scientists mentioned about the benefits of Mushrooms which has antioxidants, selenium, riboflavin, and other healthful substances that pep up the immune system and fights cancer.

Dr. Lana Zivanovic, a researcher in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Tennessee, said that mushrooms contained high amounts of beta-glucans, compounds that help keep immune cells in a state of vigilance and thereby guard against disease.
Dr. Shiuan Chen, director of surgical research at the Beckman Research Institute in California, revealed that mushrooms were rich in cancer-fighting substances.
It was concluded that Mushrooms are filled with robust amounts of selenium, vitamin D and potassium. So the next time Mushroom curry is cooked at home, do remember that the spore bearing fruiting body of a fungus would be helpful to stay away from cancer.
